School Profile - Inter-Cultural Education - ICET

WHAT IS ICET?

Intercultural Education Today (ICET) is an Australian organization established to provide opportunities for Australian and overseas students to share in 'International Education'.

ICET is an accredited and registered ELICOS (English Language Intensive Course for Overseas Students) provider and is also a registered provider of International Exchange Programs. ICET has been running programs at Davidson High School for 10 years.

Currently, there are 21 students from Japan who have become part of the Davidson High School community. Most are senior high school students in Japan from years 10 to 12. Of these 21 students, 12 are Years 11 and 12 students undertaking their HSC while the remaining 9 students participate in a specialized 1 year program called the ICET International Education Program.

ICET INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION PROGRAM (IEP)

The IEP students study at Davidson High School for one year and then complete their final years at their schools in Japan. During their time at Davidson, the IEP students study mainstream elective subjects with Years 10 and 11, and participate in specialized English as a Second Language classes taught by ICET teachers. Some students enjoy their experience so much that they stay on to complete their HSC.

The ICET teachers are also involved in various Davidson classes and programs around the school.

ICET & DAVIDSON HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIPS

Each year, ICET offers scholarships to students and/or teachers from Davidson High School (or identified members of the community) to travel to Japan. These scholarships offer opportunities to improve cultural knowledge and Japanese language by having access to educational facilities and support services in Japan.

The scholarships are offered annually.
