CREATIVE ARTS

Visual Arts and Photography are very popular and rewarding subjects at Davidson High.  Both subjects open up many careers including: artists, photographer, advertising, arts administration, architecture, film, costume design, make up design and educator.

ENGLISH

The English faculty at Davidson High School is a professional group of teachers who are passionate about the subject area and providing students with opportunities to develop skills in reading, writing, speaking, listening, viewing and representing.

We strive to provide a learning environment in which students and teachers work together in responding to and composing a variety of texts including poetry, fiction, drama, film and non-fiction. Our English teachers are committed to providing challenging and enjoyable lessons which will encourage students to become powerfully literate.

HUMAN SOCIETY AND ITS ENVIRONMENT (HSIE)

This key learning area involves the study of people, cultures, societies and environments. Studies in this area encompass people and environments (human and natural) over time.

LANGUAGES

The Language programs at Davidson High are fun, innovative and practical with emphasis placed on communication. They are designed to raise students' awareness of their own and other cultures, to develop tolerance, accept differences, embrace diversity and of course extend their linguistic knowledge and language skills.

MATHEMATICS

Mathematics at Davidson High is structured to meet the ability of all students. The teachers are dedicated, enthusiastic and fully committed to the task of delivering quality teaching and learning experiences to all their students.

MUSIC

The aim of music at Davidson is to provide students with the opportunity to acquire the knowledge, understanding and skills necessary for active engagement and enjoyment in performing, composing and listening and to allow a range of music to have a continuing role in their lives. Our two music teachers Ms Oberg and Ms Hattersley also provide a number of extracurricular opportunities in the form of concert and stage bands, instrumental and vocal ensembles to maximise performance opportunities at all levels.

PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT HEALTH AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION (PDHPE)

PDHPE is a subject which integrates the experience and practice of physical activity and the theory, concepts and issues of Health Education and Personal Development. In the 21st Century, given the influence of labour saving technology, the predilection for the instant, the take-away and the throw-away and the increasing prevalence of mental illness and stress-related conditions, PDHPE facilitates the learning of lifelong dimensions.

SCIENCE

The Science department at Davidson High School is a dynamic team of seven Science teachers and a Laboratory Assistant. There are six working laboratories and one technology room that students are able to complete a variety of experiments and activities in.

TECHNICAL AND APPLIED STUDIES (TAS)

Technological and Applied Studies is also known as TAS. The TAS faculty at Davidson HS offers a range of diverse subjects. All TAS courses at Davidson HS allow our students to develop an understanding of design and problem solving skills in a project based approach. The students are encouraged to be creative in their designs while at the same time the staffs is committed to providing them with a safe and comfortable work environment.

VOCATIONAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING (VET)
