School Profile - Faculties - PDHPE

FACULTY EXPECTATIONS

PDHPE classes are not “fresh air” periods or relaxation from so called “academic” subjects; While students should enjoy their experience on many levels there are expectations for all students in classes –  “POPP”!

PREPARED – with sports uniform, proper footwear or books, worksheets, pens etc. For PE, students require flexible, sports-style shoes which will support and stay on in vigorous activity.  (NB “Slip-ons” or fashion shoes are not suitable).Students can expect to be given one chance per term per class (PE /PD) of inadequate preparation before disciplinary action will be taken. Sports uniform should always be brought irrespective of the weather.  Preparation for class reflects achievement in outcome #4

ORGANISED – Students can expect their teacher to organize the class according to the needs of the lesson; that may include organization of groups, skills practices, game play, teams, seating arrangements or time management etc. They will be expected to work with a variety of students in classes and do their best for each other in group tasks.

PHYSICAL – expect to expend energy, perspire, breathe heavily, make an effort in practical classes, “get pooped” and concentrate in classroom situations.

POLITE  - students should treat their teacher and their classmates with the courtesy and respect they deserve.

Students should understand that being the best PD/H/PE student they can be will have benefits, which will last long after they have left Davidson High School but in the interim their time at school will be much more enjoyable.
