School Profile - Faculties - English The study of English is continually evolving and the English faculty at Davidson High School embraces the broadening syllabus. In Years 7-12 students engage with a variety of texts from the classics to popular culture. Our teachers have developed English programs designed to challenge and interest Davidson students. We promote a love of literature and learning through individual and group activities in our classes and through homework tasks. To complement our teaching we provide students with the opportunity to see various theatre productions such as Bell Shakespeare performances and visits to the nearby Glen Street Theatre. We encourage students to take part in English Competitions from public speaking to creative writing and short film making. Students also enjoy taking part in the Premier’s Reading Challenge. Film and visual literacy studies are now a significant part of the English syllabus. With access to a number of video cameras and editing software students actively engage in tasks including scripting and editing when studying film and documentary making. The English faculty at Davidson High School is comprised of six dedicated, experienced and caring teachers. Our work in the school extends beyond the classroom, with staff members fulfilling roles such as year advisers, student representative council coordinators and promoters of performing arts. We are committed to ensuring Davidson High School students receive a well rounded education that will prepare them for their future endeavours.
