THE BLUES AWARD SYSTEM
The annual BLUES Award is a certificate of achievement covering
all aspects of school life, including academic, cultural, social, sporting and
service activities. The BLUES Award encourages and rewards student motivation,
self respect and self-discipline.
A SCHOOL BLUE
Awarded to students who achieve the following number of points:

Year 7 - 245 Points
|
Year 10 - 225 Points
|

Year 8 - 240 Points
|
Year 11 - 200 Points
|
|
Year 9 - 225 Points
|
Year 12 - 200 Points
|
In the Junior School, the number of points required for a BLUE
relates to the number of subjects studied, and may vary from year to year. The
recording period will be from the beginning of Term 4, to the end of Term 3
the following year.
AN HONOUR BLUE
Awarded to Year 12 students who have achieved a BLUE for six
years, or to those students who have not received a BLUE each year but whose
total number of points is greater than the lowest total of the Honours Blue
recipients.
A DISTINCTION BLUE
Awarded to students who are leaving school and have achieved five
BLUES or a Blue for every year of attendance at Davidson High School. Awarded to
Year 10 students who have achieved a BLUE for four years. A distinction blue can
also be awarded to those Year 10 students who have not received a blue each year
but whose total number of points is greater than the lowest total of the
Distinction Blue recipients.

Academic Performance
Reports:
Blues points are awarded for academic success at the end of each reporting
period. Blues points are allocated according to a set formula. The points
are designed to encourage students to exceed their expectations.

Noteworthy Achievement in Class:
Letter of Commendation = 5 points (work showing outstanding effort in
relation to ability or work showing significant improvement).

Sporting Activities:
School Carnivals (Swimming, Athletics, Cross Country)

1st place = 5 points

2nd place = 3 points
|
|
3rd place = 2 points
|

Representation for the school
(also includes grade sport, knockout
teams etc. - minimum of three matches per season) - up to 5 points. For the
one = 5 additional points; for the region = 5 additional points; for the
State = 10 additional points; for Australia = 10 additional points.

Student Council
Up to 50 points per counsellor on a merit
basis.

Extra-curricular activities
Music/Dance/Drama
- up to 40 points for first group (maximum 10 points per term)
- up to 20 points for second group (maximum 5 points per term)
- up to 10 points for outstanding contribution
- 5 points for school representation
- 5 points for external representation
Debating
- up to 20 points per term plus 5 points for each zone/region/state
presentation.
Mock Trial
- up to 20 points per term plus 5 points for each zone/region/state
presentation.
Public Speaking
- up to 5 points per term plus 5 points for each zone/region/state
presentation.

Academic Competitions: Maths/Science/Writing etc.
Up to 10 points per competition plus 5 points
for zone/region/state representation.

Community Service (organised through the school)
5 points per service.

Extension Courses
Up to 20 points per term per activity.
